PUBG: Battlegrounds, originally titled PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG), is a 2017 battle royale game published by Krafton and developed by Krafton's PUBG Studios. Inspired by the Japanese film Battle Royale (2000), the game is based on mods created by Brendan "PlayerUnknown" Greene and was developed under his creative direction. Played from a third-person or first-person perspective, up to one hundred players parachute onto an island where they search for weapons and equipment to fight against each other while trying to survive as the last one standing. The safe area of the game's map decreases over time, directing players into an ever-tightening space to force encounters.
